2 sisters travel 100km to join symphony orchestra in north Vietnam
They perform on the trumpet in the Vietnam Youth Orchestra.
Thu and Trang live in Luong Son District in Hoa Binh Province.
Thu began learning to play the trumpet in first grade, while her younger sister started playing the instrument when she was five years old.
Their trumpet teacher was their father, who is a trumpeter.
He often practices playing the trumpet at home, so he taught his daughters how to play.
The father regularly records their trumpet practice and shares the videos on his Facebook account.
After watching some of these videos, Tran Hien, the conductor of the Vietnam Youth Orchestra, contacted the two sisters to invite them to join the orchestra.
Since then, every Sunday morning, the two young girls wake up at 5:00 am and take a bus at 6:30 am to Hanoi to play with the orchestra.
After almost a year of practicing the trumpet in the Vietnamese capital, the two young sisters will perform as orchestra members at the Hanoi Opera House this Sunday.
With the participation of over 70 young musicians from various schools and nationalities, the Vietnam Youth Orchestra aims to present a classical music spectacle to the audience.
Established in 2022 and funded by individuals, the Vietnam Youth Orchestra aims to create a classical music platform for children and bring this genre of music closer to the public.
