Vietnamese teenager wins two gold medals at Asian Weightlifting Championships
Vietnamese 18-year-old Do Tu Tung secured two gold medals in the men’s 55-kilogram category at the ongoing Asian Weightlifting Championships in South Korea on Friday, cementing his position as a promising talent in the world of weightlifting.
Although Tung was unsuccessful in his initial two snatch efforts, he managed to score a total of 116-147-263 for all three clean and jerk lifts.
That set a new personal record for Tung, who has won twice as an Asian junior champion and is still young enough to lift in the juniors at 19.
His teammate Ngo Son Dinh was second on 117-143-260 and earned the silver medal of the men’s 55-kilogram event of the 2023 Asian Weightlifting Championships, which is taking place in South Korea’s South Gyeongsang Province from May 5 to 13.
